October 11, 2007

caribbeanPortland, Oregon’s Roy Jay, who heads the Oregon Convention and Visitor Services Network and also the newly appointed National Executive Director of Association of African American Meeting Professionals, will be one of the keynote presenters at the Caribbean Tourism Conference to be held in San Juan, Puerto Rico on October 21-25.

Jay joins Margaret Gonzales of the Hispanic Meeting Planners, Matthew Barnett and Cary Broussard as some of the nation’s foremost experts in ethnic minority convention and tourism marketing efforts. AAAMPRO is one of the fastest growing private organizations in the country which is attracting hotels, meeting planners, convention sales representatives and high powered heavyweights that are supporting the AAAMPRO agenda of economic empowerment, education and exchange or ideas and cultures.

Jay has been noted for his efforts of elevating Portland, Oregon to national attention in the convention and tourism market over the past 13 years. ‘Other meeting planners, minority organizations and decision makers really want to hear about success stories and wanting to place their conventions and meetings at locations that are minority friendly’, says R. Weldon Woodruff, of Washington DC.
