AFRICAN AMERICAN CHAMBER THE SPARK PLUG BEHIND MULTI MILLION DOLLAR SUIT

African American Chamber of Commerce of Oregon was one of the main spark plugs supporting a multi million dollar suit against Asbury Auto Group in Portland, Oregon for racial discrimination. This news story is only the tip of the iceberg. Asbury packed up and not only left town, but the entire state of Oregon. This event was August 18, 2008. Plaintiffs were four African American employees that were called the “N” word repeatedly, passed over for promotion. In the 11th hour after, they reached out to the African American Chamber of Commerce’s Legal Support Division. The initial results in Federal Court was the all White jury awarded over $17 million. The amount was eventually reduced upon appeal. This Chamber gets things done… They are your partners in business and the community at large.
