Roy Jay, known for his many business and community endeavors for the past 40+ years, is sometimes referred to as Mr. President because of the number of boards, committees and businesses that he has headed over the past four decades.
A native Oregonian, he heads the African American Chamber of Commerce, National Alliance of African American Chambers, and is one of the founding board members of the Alliance of Minority Chambers. He serves on the board of Oregon Partnership, African American Health Coalition, and is the brainchild behind Project Clean Slate, a national award-winning program helping thousands remove barriers to employment, housing, education, and other opportunities by converting delinquent traffic fines and minor criminal convictions into meaningful community service.
Mr. Jay’s Chamber was a driving force behind the 2009 City of Portland resolution requiring at least one person of color to sit on most RFP and RFQ proposal evaluation committees. He is also the president of the National Organization of Black Law Enforcement Executives, Oregon Northwest Chapter.
